shado exists as an international media platform which cuts through the noise of an oversaturated attention economy. Our 3 main areas of activity include online and print content, events and projects.
We cover a range of global-political topics including migration, feminism, protest movements and LGBTQI+ rights
We have also recently launched a creative agency arm of the organisation to work with brands and NGOs with the creation of content, social media campaigns and fundraising goals. Here is a link to a current video project on which we are working in collaboration with Amnesty International.
In February 2020 shado hosted a two-week residency, Build Love Break Walls, in celebration of LGBT+ History Month. The residency acted in part as a fundraiser for the charity Say It Loud Club who support LGBTQI+ asylum seekers and refugees in the UK. Alongside the exhibition, we hosted a range of events with the LGBTQI+ community and provided legal support advice to individuals claiming asylum in the UK. Online, we produced a series of articles spotlighting the experiences of LGBTQI+ folk claiming asylum across Europe.
We collaborate with individuals and organisations in a range of capacities, including events, charity fundraising, advertorial content and creative agency work. We are also consistently looking for writers and illustrators for our online and print content.
We believe that those with lived experience of an issue or injustice are best placed to discuss and advocate for meaningful change in that space: therefore, shado exists as a platform for such people. By planting these stories in the mainstream, shado aims to contribute to a culture-led system change.
